Vibeshots is a menu bar screenshot app for people who build with AI coding tools. Every capture goes straight to your clipboard and into a searchable history, so there is no file to hunt for on the Desktop and nothing to drag into a chat.
When one picture is not enough, the paste panel drops several screenshots into Cursor, Claude Code, Codex or ChatGPT in one go. Arrows, boxes and a highlighter help you point at the exact problem.
Screenshots of terminals and config files often carry API keys. Switch on auto-blur and Vibeshots reads each capture on your Mac and pixelates anything that looks like a key, token or password before it reaches the clipboard. Nothing is uploaded, and there is no account.
Auto-blur
It knows what a key looks like
Auto-blur reads the text in every capture and checks each line against the shapes of common keys and tokens. Matches are pixelated and flattened into the image, so there is no layer to peel back later.
- OpenAI, Anthropic, AWS, GitHub, Google, Slack and Stripe keys
- JSON Web Tokens, bearer tokens and private key headers
- Lines like password=… or api_key: …, plus very long token-like strings
- Off until you turn it on in Settings › Capture. No detector catches everything, so give sensitive shots a quick look before you share them.

The paste panel
Paste five screenshots as easily as one
Press ⌃⌥⌘V where you are typing and your recent captures appear by the cursor, newest first. Pick the ones you need, and Vibeshots returns to your app and pastes them one after another.
- ↑ and ↓ to move, Space to pick, ⌘A for all, ↩ to paste
- Paste as images, as recognised text, or as data URIs
- Terminal agents take images with Ctrl+V. Every capture is already on the clipboard, so that works too.
The cart page breaks on mobile.
Can you show me? A screenshot of the page and the error would help.
Tap screenshots to pick them, then Paste. With the keyboard: V opens it, ↑↓ move, Space picks, ↩ pastes. In the app the panel opens with ⌃⌥⌘V.
Annotate
Point at the problem
Click the preview that appears after each capture to open the editor. Mark it up, then press ⌘↩ to copy the result and close the window.
- Arrows, lines, rectangles, ellipses, text, pen and highlighter, with undo
- A blur brush for names, emails and anything a pattern cannot spot
- ⌃⌥⌘A reopens your last capture for editing
Pick a tool and drag on the screenshot. Try Blur on the email address.
While the demo is focused: A R H P B pick a tool, ⌘Z undoes, ⌘↩ copies.
Scrolling capture
The whole page in one image
Press ⌃⌥⌘L, select an area and scroll. Vibeshots grabs frames as you go, and Done & Stitch joins them into one tall screenshot.
- Made for long logs, chat threads and full web pages
- Add Frame captures one by hand when you need it
Scroll the content. Frames are grabbed automatically.
Privacy
Your screen stays on your Mac
Capturing, text recognition and blurring all run locally with Apple’s own frameworks. Vibeshots goes online only to activate your license and to check for updates.
- No account and no cloud. Captures are kept in ~/Pictures/Vibeshots.
- Screen Recording permission lets it capture the screen.
- Accessibility permission lets it press ⌘V for you and find your text cursor.
- Signed with a Developer ID and notarized by Apple.
Features
Four ways to capture
Region with a magnifier and pixel snap, window, full screen or scrolling. Press Space mid-drag to switch to window mode.
Copied the moment you capture
Every shot lands on the clipboard, with a preview in the corner you can click to edit or drag out as a file.
Copy text from a screenshot
On-device text recognition turns an error message in a capture into text your agent can quote.
History you can search
Find a capture by the words inside it, pin the ones you reuse, and keep anywhere from 5 to 500 shots.
Quick screen recordings
⌃⌥⌘R records an MP4 at up to 60 fps. When you stop, the file is copied and shown in Finder.
Shortcuts that never clash
The defaults start with ⌃⌥⌘, well away from ⌘⇧4 and your editor. Change any of them, Hyperkey included.

Questions
Which Macs does Vibeshots run on?
Any Mac with macOS 14 Sonoma or later. It runs natively on both Apple silicon and Intel.
How many Macs can I use it on?
As many as your license covers: 1, 3, 5 or 20. To move it to a new Mac, open Settings › License on the old one and choose Deactivate This Mac, then activate the same key on the new one.
Is it a subscription?
No. You pay once. Updates are free, and Vibeshots downloads and installs them from inside the app.
How do I get my license key?
It appears on screen as soon as checkout is complete, and it is emailed to you as well. Enter it in Settings › License and click Activate.
Do my screenshots leave my Mac?
No. Capturing, text recognition and blurring happen on your Mac, and captures are kept in ~/Pictures/Vibeshots. The app connects to the internet only to activate your license and to check for updates.
Which permissions does it need?
Two. Screen Recording, which macOS requires for any app that captures the screen, and Accessibility, which lets Vibeshots press ⌘V for you when it pastes and open the paste panel next to your text cursor. You grant both once in System Settings › Privacy & Security.
Is auto-blur on by default?
No. Turn it on once in Settings › Capture, and from then on every capture is checked before it reaches the clipboard. You can also run it on a single screenshot from the editor. It looks for known key formats, so give sensitive shots a quick look before you share them.
Which apps can I paste into?
Any app that accepts a pasted image, including Cursor, ChatGPT, Claude, VS Code, Slack, GitHub, Linear and Notion. The Claude Code and Codex command line tools paste images with Ctrl+V, and because every capture is already on your clipboard, that works too.
